Hi, This might be a dumb question, but I’m a new HYDROponic grower planning to switch to aquaponics in a few years. I was wondering:
How do you set the EC in a way that is good for plants but not deadly for fish? In hydroponics, plants need a fairly high EC (1.2–2.0), but wouldn’t that be lethal for fish?
Also, how big should the reservoirs be? I have a 4.500liter pond, is that too large to convert into a small aquaponic NFT system? I’m afraid I would need too many fish to reach a proper EC for the plants.
Finally, how much do you care about parameters?
do you check all of them or just let it be? Do you supplement nutrients or simply change the fish food based on deficiencies?
And how do you grow leafy greens and fruiting plants in the same system? they require such different parameters, right? submitted by /u/Intelligent_File6630
