Hello,
I could not find any information on this elsewhere. I live in a standard house in Chicagoland build in the late 1960s. I’ve been trying to get into aquaponics, but due to the winters I can only reasonably do it inside. I can’t do it in the garage as it is uninsulated and insulating is not an option atm. I have been looking at 275gal IBC totes, but I want to make sure I can do this without causing damage. Obviously, I can’t do it on the wooden floors, but the slab basement remains a possibility. 275 gallons of water = ~2300lbs. Spread out over the 4x4ft, 16sqft footprint of the tote, it will be about ~145lbs per square foot. I read that residential concrete floors can handle around 40lbs per square foot. I am currently waiting for my FOIA request for the schematics, etc of my house to be fulfilled. For now, let’s just assume it is average. thx submitted by /u/Ickylizardcolin
