Coir seedling plugs

Hi all, I’m planning to diy build a nft system. I’ve read 90mm PVC pipe is a good size for the channels, plus it’s cheap and easy.

We currently raise seedlings in coir plugs (about 40mm deep when swollen), so wondering if it’s practical to design the channels so we can just transfer these plugs into the aquaponics when the seedlings are old enough? That’ll avoid damaging roots.

Is this a common thing and does anyone have any examples of how to hold the plugs? submitted by /u/the-dolphine
